Experience the MK Nature Center

Our Story

The Morrison Knudsen Nature Center, nestled along the scenic Boise River in the heart of Idaho’s capital, first opened its doors in July 1990. Owned and operated by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, the MK Nature Center has become a treasured destination in the Treasure Valley for wildlife viewing, environmental education, and immersive outdoor experiences.

The center covers 4.6 acres and features a variety of native habitats that attract many local animals, including birds, deer, and fish. Visitors can enjoy unique fish-viewing windows that offer a close-up look at Idaho’s aquatic life.

The MK Nature Center is free and open to the public. It provides a welcoming space for people of all ages to explore nature, learn about local ecosystems, and develop a deeper connection to the environment.
